My Passion

Introduction

My passion is presenting the outcome a of a usage assessment (the compliance spreadsheets) and telling clients what it means for their business and how they can increase the value by mapping it to their situation and their roadmap ( regardless of directions)

So, my passion is not spending time behind my laptop doing analysis of compliance or creating even more complex analysis or reports.

My Story

What I really enjoyed was taking the final presentation of a Software Compliance Project to the next level. If you are in front of the right people and you tell them what you achieved and what value you brought to them, the next project is easy yet often forgotten. Just ask if they liked the service. Always they did (luckily), so I asked the important question: β€œShall we do this every year?” And almost every time, the right people said β€œyes”. These are not the purchasing guys or the vendor managers (who most likely wanted discount πŸ˜‰ ), these are the people from the business or the people responsible for compliance and the budget.

The things I liked most was explaining such compliance spreadsheets and telling clients what it meant for their business. What I found odd was that I was the only one doing it like this and the only one selling multi year projects, just by asking the right questions to the right people.

So my passion: helping companies with their software challenges and explaining how a good vendor strategy could save them a lot of money. So, being an employee, I realised, I miss the entrepreneurship and am forced to all kind of administrative procedures and processes to support the ambitions of others.

Conclusion

Live your dream and start your own business. Keep what you liked and improve or change what you didn’t like.
