I’m thrilled to announce the launch of my own business, PlanJB! After sixteen years at Insight, where I gained extensive experience and deep insights into the software asset management industry, it felt like the right time to take the plunge into entrepreneurship. (March 3rd, 2025)

Insight (2008 – 2025)
GLOBAL ACCOUNT MANAGER
Started as Global Account Manager for a large global client, where I had to deal with Microsoft as a vendor. I learnt a lot on multiple vendors (Adobe, Symantec, VMware, McAfee, Oracle and many smaller ones Tier3 & 4 vendors) and also how to sell Services for Microsoft Optimization and License Desk services (supporting the Purchasing Department with their daily challenges).
EXECUTIVE LICENSING CONSULTANT (ORACLE)
After 3 years, I was asked by Insight to help them set up the Oracle practice, next to the Optimization Service for Microsoft. I realized it is much easier to sell your Services to a Client, if they have an immediate pain, like an audit.
Also helped clients with the Vendor Negotiations, where my knowledge of the Sales organisation and the Approval Process proved to be a valuable asset.
I helped several clients with their challenges with Oracle, and gained valuable experience in audit defence, Unlimited License Agreements and later also JAVA.
Biggest Lesson Learned: The real value for a client is to explain what a compliancy position (spreadsheet) means for their business and creating a Vendor Strategy provides valuable insights and can save a lot of money (OPEX reduction). Do not deal with the Vendor Manages or Purchasing Department; Better talk to the Business and the ones in charge (managers & directors).
ORACLE (2002 – 2008)
LICENSE MANAGEMENT SERVICES (LMS)
Back in November 2002, I started as a Senior Licence Consultant in Oracle, for the LMS department (I will refrain from mentioning all the nicknames here). It was a steep learning curve in a completely new world. I was lucky to learn from the best and managed to become operational within 4 months (training usually took 6 months at least, in these days). As there was not much there, you had to do the audits it all by yourself:
– Exploring the contracts
– Gathering the usage data
– Analysing the data (script output)
– Mapping usage and licenses
– Writing the report and tell the client
During my career at Oracle LMS, I learnt how big software vendors operate, how clients deal with licenses (and why they fear audits) and how to predict which clients would be the most beneficial to audit. Also I learnt how engage with clients in such a way, to get better and faster results for Oracle.
